I get this error while trying to synchronize; what could have caused this behavior and what would be the remedy ?

Okay found the solution; you need to add "-pd dbsock8.dll" to dbmlsync options. But still guessing what could have caused this.

Correct, that is the right solution.
The reason for the error is the classic DLL crunch that can happen based
on the Windows CE memory architecture.

The -pd controls which DLLs are loaded and in what order to help to
avoid the DLL crunch.
