I am thoroughly enjoying the feature rich PocketPB environment. I'm also
recognizing the need to redesign most datawindows due to the limited screen
real estate...but at least I have the datawindow at my disposal <g>.

If you look at Mobile Contacts, you will see cases where you can click on a
button by a field, and have it pull up detail fields...or perhaps a
picklist. I recognize most of the picklists in Mobile Contacts will be
static, but you can see the possibility of pulling up a code table window.
My question: How to get the window to open as a dependent child
window...that isn't using the full screen? By default, opening up windows
in the PocketPC environment causes them to maximize to fill the entire
screen.

Finally, I will be experimenting today, but does the "Close (OK)" property
cause the window instance to be closed and removed from memory...versus
simply Smart Minimized? I need these popup windows to fully close and
remove themselves from memory.

I am using the PocketPC 2002 emulator right now.

Thanks for the help,

Brian

Hi Brian,

If you use a response window you should be able to size it any way you
want and not have it take up the whole screen.

As for the OK button, that will cause the window to be removed from
memory. The X is for smart minimize. Typically you would only have the
OK button on the application's main window.

You can use an user object and pop up the user object by the field you want
to populate. we do this with a calendar object. I think it worth building a
abstract class that you can inherit and tell it the list you want to
display, then simply place on the window and have code to populate, place
and make visible. Its very easy and is a must for hand held applications.
You have to allow point and tap as much as possible. You cannot make the
user load data manually.
