Hi, guys!

Could you help me in this problem, please.

How can we change the background colour of the command button on the window.
(or we can't?)

Thank you!

Yes and NO ....

The technical answer is no for a CB. It always uses the current O/S "Button
Face" colour and PB keeps you to that standard.

The technical answer for a Picture Button though is NO. All I do is create
(i.e.: solid Red, Green, Yellow) different GIF (or BMP / JPeg) images and
change the "PictureName" property of the PB at run time. This has the user
seeing the button colour change (i.e.: in my example various colours on a
traffic light). Note: You can use MSPaint to create the background images
for this. Also, setting the PictureName property to empty, allows the PB to
display the default "ButtonFace" colour of the O/S.

Hope that helps!

On a per-button, per-window, or even per-application basis, you can't. You
*can* look into modifying the system colors (RMB on desktop, "Properties",
"Appearance"). Or, you can use a static text object and simulate a button.

Just curious, but why deviate from GUI standards? We have them for a
reason...

Thanks a lot!

I know how to simulate such a functionality and this is not a problem.

We're not going to deviate from GUI standarts.

I was just asked whether it's possible or not and said "no" but failed to
provide an answer on "Why?" and thought that I had missed something "very
important" in PB..

Out of curiosity, no need to answer.. but why its not possible... :-)

Under the covers, PB's buttons do not use the owner-drawn style (it's a
Windows thing, something about which most PB-only developers will not have
heard). Only buttons that are owner-drawn can have its color changed from
the default system color (by processing the WM_CTLCOLORBTN message).

Hope this answers your question.

To be a bit more precise, PB's button does not use the
owner-drawn style, but PictureButton does...
