With all the EBF's that have been produced for Adaptive
Server Anywhere (ASA) 8.02, I am wondering if there will be
another Maintenance Release for 8.02, now that version 9 has
been released. Of particular concern is support for Windows
Server 2003. Technical documents show that you must be on
ebf 4247 or higher of ASA 8.02 for Windows Server 2003
support. That means that we need to release an EBF
(Untested) version to all our users (hundreds of sites) for
our application (that uses ASA) to be supported on Windows
Server 2003. I would much rather deploy a maintenance
release rather than an EBF. Since we just recently upgraded
from version 6 to version 8, another upgrade to version 9 at
this time is not feasible (too much R&D and can't hit our
users with another license upgrade fee this soon).

Generally, you should wait 24 hours before posting the same message
again, even on another newsgroup.

Having said that, I can vouch for Reg's response that EBF's *are* well
tested; iAnywhere has changed their approach to testing, and the "E"
no longer stands for "Emergency" but "Express". I have more than one
client who has deployed 8.0.2 EBFs without problem.

And having said *that*, understand that iAnywhere has already been
yelled at for holding back on 8.0.3 :)... point-releases bring new
*features* people want.

I apologize for posting in two news groups on the same
date--I have been unsure as to where IAnywhere stops and
Sybase starts, and I didn't know if the same people
responsed to the two groups or even which one was the most
appropriate. Sorry. But thanks for the responses; I will
patiently await 8.0.3.

iAnywhere Solutions is a spin off of Sybase. Basically the "SQL
Anywhere" group (along with a couple of other products) are now iAnywhere.

So the sybase.sqlanywhere.* newsgroups are, in effect, iAnywhere newsgroups.

At this point in time, the sybase.sqlanywhere newsgroups are where most
SQL Anywhere users hang out. The ianywhere newsgroups get some SQL
Anywhere questions, but they also get questions for our other products
(Manage Anywhere, Pylon, etc...)

Hope this helps,
greg.fenton
