Hello, can anyone tell me if there is such a thing as
an installer program that can be run from a desktop
PC and deploy a pocketpb app to a device.

We use the latest Installshield for our desktop app
installs.

Thanks in advance.

Might look at EXSetup.

http://www.pocketpcdn.com/articles/ezsetup.html

http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/ezsetup/index.html

It's freeware under the GNU Public License.

Yes - look into EZSetup

Additionally, PocketBuilder generates the INF file for EZSetup
and the BAT file we generate has a commented out line to run
EZSetup...

We can't ship EZSetup with the product (we looked into it) because
it is GPL and that causes legal hassles.

We also discussed EZSetup briefly in one of the PPB talks
at TechWave and may even be in the PPB manuals.

The lawyers may want to look at the GNU license again. With regard to
distribution, you're fine as long as it's "Mere Aggregation".

http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#MereAggregation

It gets stickier when the commercial program is making calls into the code,
like with PB9 and GhostScript. In that case, Sybase would need to look into
the commerical license version:
