Hi,

I wanted to create a setup.exe to install MyAPP from desktop
to
device using MyApp_makecab.bat generated by PPB(v1.0.1). The
MyApp.ARM.CAB and MyApp_Setup.exe were successfully
generated. MyApp_Setup.exe can be launched without any
trouble, but after the license agreement screen I had the
message "Application manager cannot install this application
on
your mobile device due to an invalid setup file. Reinstall
and
try again". I said ok and then the Win CE Add/Remove
Programs
appeared without MyApp listed there. So I failed to install
MyApp on my device. What went wrong? It seemed to me that
the
MyApp_setup.exe didn't include the MyApp.ARM.CAB file!

I did assign the value MyApp.ARM.CAB to the key CabFiles in
the
section [MyApp] of the file MyApp_setup.ini. By the way, I
can
install MyApp successfully by copying the MyApp.ARM.CAB to
the
device. One more thing I need to mention is that when the
MyApp was built in PPB an err.log was produced with the
content of
"Warning: Section [DestinationDirs] key "Files.ARM" is not
using the string "%InstallDir%"
Warning: Section [DestinationDirs] key "Files.EM86" is not a
valid file list
Warning: Section [DestinationDirs] key "Files.x86" is not a
valid file list
Warning: Section [Files.Shared] has no data".

Thank you in advance.

The 'INI' file that's fed into EZSetup needs to be manually
edited to include the various CABs.
Open the file in a text editor and it will be pretty obvious
what to do (and you can get the source code to EZSetup
if there are any problems!)

HTH,
Reed Shilts
PocketBuilder Development Manager
<Standard-Disclaimers-Apply/>

P.S.
I stopped development to complete this task when we
discovered we couldn't ship EZSetup with the PPB package.
We left in what we had done because it is useful.
We may finish the editing of the INI file if one of the
developers has a couple of days free up in their
schedule.

Thank you very much for your reply. I think I did what you
suggested. Here is a copy of my 'INI' file for EZSetup:

;-----------------------------------------------------------
; Template file for "ezsetup.exe" to create a proper setup
for PPC targets.
; Sybase Pocket PowerBuilder IDE
;
; Strings:
; CAB_APPNAME = Application Name
; CAB_FILE_EXE = executable name (same for all targets)
; CAB_INSTALL_DIR = common files install directory
;
; CAB_PROVIDER = provider name (like "mycompany")
; CAB_DESCRIPTION = product description
; CAB_COPYRIGHT = product copyright
; CAB_PRODUCT = product name
; CAB_VERSION = product version number
;-----------------------------------------------------------

[CEAppManager]
Version = Version 1.0.0 Build 001
Component = MyApp

[MyApp]
Description = Data Entry for Pocket PC
Uninstall = MyApp
CabFiles = MyApp.ARM.CAB

; There may be multiple CAB files here both for the multiple
CPU types
; and to include support like Pocket PowerBuilder and ASA
support.
; So a possible entry would be:
; CabFiles = MyApp.ARM.CAB,MyApp.x86.CAB,Pocket
PowerBuilder.ARM.CAB,Pocket
PowerBuilder.x86.CAB,asa_ce.arm.30.cab,asa_ce.x86.30.cab
;

Actually I tried to include Both Pocket PowerBuilder.ARM.CAB
and MyApp.ARM.CAB in the setup by spcifying CabFiles =
Pocket PowerBuilder.ARM.CAB, MyApp.ARM.CAB. The result was
that the setup did include the Pocket PowerBuilder.ARM.CAB,
but did not include MyApp.ARM.CAB!

Could you please point out what went wrong? Thank you.
