I am implementing Reed's barcode example into my own application but am
having problems. Basically I have a tab window (w_main) and there is a
custom visual user object on it that contains a list box, a start and cancel
button. I have used the same instance variables in my user object that are
in w_scanner_main in Reed's example, moved the three lines of code in his
open event to a function called when that tab is selected, and put his same
lines of code into my start button on the user object, with the exception of
the set soft trigger function, which I pass FALSE since I didnt put a
checkbox on my user object. The scanner does enable, but is unable to scan
anything. Plus it seems to disable randomly. I did not have this behavior
with Reed's example application.

The only problem I can think of so far is that maybe there is an issue with
the handle(this) call since my functions and buttons are actually on a
custom user object and not directly on the window, like Reed's. Otherwise
I am using his provided .PKL file and am using his user object and all his
structures directly so there should be nothing different. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks.

The light does turn green on the scanner after a supposed
scan, but nothing was displayed in the results box, so I
pressed the force read button, and the last barcode I
supposedly scanned shows up on the screen. I'm curious as
to why this works on its own in the example and why i have
to force it to display in my own application, using the same
code/events/buttons.

I have posted an updated "ReadMe.html" in CodeXchange which
describes the details of the admittedly esoteric technique of using
low level windows messages in a PB application.
I hope this helps -
especially since it sounds like you're sooooo close to having
a cool application.

Thanks Reed, I was able to make it work. All it required was a little more
"toying" with eventIDs. I will let you know when we have a prototype
running for our application.
