I am trying to create a remote server on an ASA8.0.2 Linux
version. This remote server is supposed to connect to
ASE12.5. I have modified .odbc.ini and added my odbc entry.
But, when I try to connect through Sybase Central to this
remote server, I can't see any proxy tables and the
connection fails with "unable to connect to server" SQL
Code= -656. Here is .odbc.ini

I have also tried dbping with -m and -l with wqase17.so, but
it says failed to load ODBC driver...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please, always provide with every post the version and BUILD number of
ASA that you are using (e.g. use the command "dbeng8 -v").

What driver manager are you using? What is $ASANY8/lib/libodbc.so
pointing to?

Can you post the exact failure message you get when you use dbping?

What is the definition of your REMOTE SERVER? You can unload the ASA
database (just the schema, not the data) using Sybase Central or the
"dbunload -n" command and copy the CREATE REMOTE SERVER command from
reload.sql.

Also, just so you know, there is a Linux-specific newsgroup for ASA:

sybase.public.sqlanywhere.linux

There are some Linux/ASA engineers and users that hang out there but
don't follow the general newsgroups.
