When trying to work the Pocket PB code example for
a sales database, I get the following error when trying to
connect to the SalesDB_remote database:

JZ00L: Login failed. Examine the SQLWarnings chained to this exception for
the reason(s).

Error code=0

SQL state=JZ00L

ASA Error -140: User ID '' does not exist

Error code=509

SQL state=01004

Connection parameters:

User=dba

Password=***

ENG=salesdb_remote

DBN=salesdb_remote

DBF=C:\Documents and Settings\tkarslake\My Documents\myDb\salesdb_remote.db

Does anyone know what might be the problem?
Thanks,
Tom Karslake

Are you sure you are getting that due to the connect, or do you have any
automated scripts that run when you first connect, like the
login_procedure option?

David,

Thank you for replying.
I don't know if I have any scripts running when I first connect or if I'm
using the login_procedure option.
I was running the Sales DB code example in PocketPB
and it says to use ASA 8, Sybase Central to connect
to the SalesDB database by simply specifying the DSN
name. That's when I was getting this error. Now...
what I was able to do was run Sybase Central and in the
Edit Connection Profile dialog box in the Connection Profiles dialog box:
(1) In the Identification tab:
User = dba
Password = sql
Select "None" for the default connection.
(2) In the Database tab:
Server name = SalesDB
Database name = SalesDB
Database file = ...\salesdb.db (full path was specified where you see "...")
(3) In the Advanced Tab:
Keep jConnect5 selected.

Then I clicked the Connect button in the Connection Profiles dialog box, and
it seemed to work!

The key is selecting the right driver. If you use the iAnywhere JDBC driver
(which is now the default in 9.0), it should all work.
