We are running ISQL in silent mode[ASA8.01]. If we encounter an error, we
use the "-onerror exit" switch to terminate.

We would like to capture the error text to a file. Is that possible?

Please, always post the version and BUILD number of ASA that you are
using (e.g. use the command "dbeng8 -v")

Can you post the exact command-line you are using to accomplish this?
Also, what platform are you doing this on (Linux? MS-Windows?)

Have you tried doing I/O redirection:

dbisql -c "..." -nogui -onerror exit my_script.sql > error.out

Sorry Greg, it is 8.01 unfettered [build 2600], and we only run in WinDoz.

The command line [pretty close to this]:

dbisql -nogui -ODBC -d ";" -onerror exit -c dsn=xxx, uid=yyy, pwd=zzz
"script_filename.sql"

Regards, Mike Niemann

Can you redirect the output using ">" like I had in my post?
