How do you place the contents of a blob into a rte Control?

Blob myBlob
String myStringBlob

SelectBLOB .. into :myBlob...

myStringBlob = Blob(myBlob)

command pastertf(myStringBlob) always returns -1

Is there a better way?

I need to allow the user to edit the data in the RTE and then resave to DB.

Since the PasteRTF is expecting a STRING, have you tried casting it to
string?

// get the blob
myStringBlob = blob( myBlob)

// cast to string
myString = string( myStringBlob )

rte_1.pastertf( myString )

Woops, that's a typo

myStringBlob = Blob(myBlob)
should have been

myStringBlob = String(myBlob)

in the debugger the sting looks nothing like the original data ( which was
was formatted Text) saved to the DB ( MS-SQL2K) wia the DW Painter.

Running PB8.0.3 9704 on Win2k

In the debugger, I would expect to see the RTF tags and the content. What
specifically do you see?

/ck

Hi Chris,

After searching the newsgroup I found a message (Oct 98) which
identified the problem.

The datawindow stores some datawindow-specific information along with
the blob that makes it unusable outside of a datawindow context. (Carson
Hager[TeamPS])

Hence my problem with the RTE Control, when I deleted the blob and
recreated it from the RTE the code to load/save the RTE works fine but now
the DW doesn't load.

Now I just need to find a way to display the blob in a Datawindow for a
report. Hmmm!!

Thank for your input

Aiden
