Have a customer who is using SQL Anywhere Network Server
Version 5.5.04. He does not have a backup solution. What
products are available to do backups. I am not familiar
with this product so a basic question is does the program
itself have an internal backup to file option which can then
be backed up by standard products by Veritas.

Thanks in Advance (TIA)

Any backup software will do but do not use any backup software that claims
to be able to backup open files or who indicate SYBASE software, SQL
Anywhere cannot be backed up while running using third party tools. Use
DBBACKUP utility (command line or sybase central) to backup the database.
Those vendors referencing Sybase mean the enterprise database ASE (formally
Sybase SQL Server).

The internal backup is done via DBBACKUP.

If you have access to the product documentation (available as online help),
there is a chapter on this topic and details of using the backup utility.
There are also a number of technical documents. Go to www.ianywhere.com
support page and search on the topic BACKUP or DISASTER RECOVERY.
