I do not know if it is possible ?

No not at this time. If your EJB returns a java.sql.ResultSet then
the proxies for those will be built and you should be able to
manipulate the result set in the 'Java' way with the proxies. You'll
need to be on 9.0.1 to do this though because prior to that public
instance variables were not exposed in the proxies and I'm pretty sure
one or more of the classes for java.sql.ResultSet includes those.

Hi,

Since java.sql.ResultSet is not Serializable, it is not possible to use it as
the bean return type (I heard some EJB servers can serialize this class even
though the interface is not serilizable, but this is cheating and is not
portable). So, there remains two options: TabularResults.ResultSet or a custom
ValueObjectList pattern. Once I remember I have created a datawindow for testing
purposes, and was able to populate its data by issuing a MASP call to a bean,
which returns a TabularResults.ResultSet. But, I have never tried to generate
proxies for TabularResults.ResultSet, and did not play with it programmatically.

I believe writing a custom ValueObjectList pattern to talk to EJB tier is
obligatory, because not only for retrievals but also for updates a portable data
exchange mechanism is needed to carry data between tiers.

Sorry to have mislead you, I misspoke about ResultSet and really did
mean TabularResults.ResultSet which is a 'Sybase-thing' but open to
all. It is those classes that have the public class variables for
which you'd need 9.0.1's capabilities. I have not tried this out
however, and am requesting an enhancement from engineering to make it
simpler to move a 'result set' from the Java world to a datastore in
PowerBuilder.

I'll have to plead ignorance on the ValueObjectList pattern.

Thanks Jim
I use PB901 build 6533 and I'm getting result from EJB in some Java
serialized object. In PowerBuilder I see this result as PB proxy but when I
try to read some simple type values from proxy object it always returns
null,
In java client or universal test client on WebSphere it works properly .
Does anybody know solve this problem ?

Paul
