hi,

i'm trying again solving an open case since 24.11.03. Can
anybody give an advice ? I installed asa 9.0 on windows 2k
sp4. Sample databases are coming up with new odbc driver asa
9.0. But adding any new datasource is missing the ability to
attach to asa 9.0 only older ones asa 6 upt to 8 are shown.
The attached Files show the acompanying reg entries exported
by utility ( chris keating assumed occurrences of "@" signs
within.
Or should I better open an Xpress case ?

Thanks in advance.
Wilko

This newsgroup is not a technical support channel. If you want to open a
technical support case, contact your local technical support center Within
North America, you can reach Technical Support by calling 1-800-8SYBASE. If
you are located outside of North America, you can find the contact
information for your local Sybase Support Center by going to the Sybase home
page at http://www.sybase.com, clicking on the "Support" link at the top of
the page, and then choosing "Support Centers" from the left hand frame.

You can always report a bug for free by visiting CaseXpress at
http://casexpress.sybase.com/cx/cx.stm. When submitting calls through
CaseXpress, please make sure to give an accurate description of the steps
you take to reproduce the bug, and include any files that may be needed
(database, source code) to reproduce the problem. However, please ensure you
read and understand the Important Message that gets displayed as it outlines
the service levels.

That said, you exported registry files show indications of corruption. If
you search the HKLM exported registry file, you will find a number of
possible corruptions. One example is the PB DataDirect OEM 4.10 Sybase ASE
Wire Protocol entry in HKLM\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\ODBC Drivers which
shows a HEX value but should be a string value "Installed". The ASA 9 driver
entry follows this possible corruption. You could drop the key in the
registry (after making a backup of it), modify the corrupted entries in the
HKLM reg export file, and import the changes. If that corrects the problem,
you should investigate whether the 'corruption' has spread or IMO rebuild
this machine from scratch after verifying its health.

>I was a little confused because i didn't get a reply since
i sent to you the exported fiels. But now i deleted all
entries that have been marked with "EXPAND_SZ" - including
the entry you have detected as bad - these entries are all
coming with PowerDesigner resp. PowerBuilder, but I never
used them. No asa 9.0 Driver shows up and everything seems
to be ok.

thanks for help.
