how about a new date format to be returned by the convert function in the
format
ddmmmyy i.e. (01JAN03) like format 106 but no imbedded blanks.

How about having customizable format ?
The format would not be a number, but a string format :
Convert (varchar, @dtvar, 'ddmmmyy hh24:mi:ss')

AND, we need a format for numbers too
(for internationalization)
