There is an error message when I try to do local deploy of an application that
has one window called w_test with only a commandbutton on the window. The
command button has one line of code Close(Parent). The full build succeeded,
step 1 and step 2 are OK, step 3 has messages like:
..
datawindow upload success...
...
upload INI file failed

Why upload INI file failed? Any idea? Thanks.

Are you using Appeon 2.7 GA Version Build 2105? The reason I ask is because
if I remember correctly, this was a wrong error message that was caught
during the beta. However, another cause for this error message is that the
INI file name may not be by the conventions listed in the Appeon Developer
User Guide.

Regards, Rex

Yes it is version 2.7 developer edition. In my testing application, there is
neither database connection nor INI file. It has just one window. During the
installation of Appeon, I followed each step. I choose complete installation
because the installation guide tells that this choice has less trouble. I did
installed the http server component and selected IIS4.0/5.0 option. My
development machine is a windows 2000 server which has II 5.0.

Please note that even if no INI file is selected for deployment, Appeon
Developer will still send an empty INI file to Appeon Server.

Appeon engineers analyzed that the cause of the error may be: AppeonDB (in
Appeon Server) is not started; or though AppeonDB is started, it does not
work properly.

Therefore, in the machine where Appeon Server is installed:
(1) Please verify that the "Adaptive Server Anywhere - AppeonDB" service is
in "started" status in Administrative Tools | Services.

(2) Make sure AppeonDB service works properly. Check in the
%Jaguar%\bin\jaguar.log, whether there is any error message about database
error. If some error exists in the log, restart AppeonDB and EAServer, and
then deploy the application again.

(3) Make sure the serverport of the AppeonDB service is a port that is not
used by another service: Open Jaguar Manager --> Go to connection
cache list --> Find the connection cache appeondb and ping it. If the
pinging is not successfully, most possibly, the serverport is already used
by another service. In this case, you need modify the serverport of the
AppeonDB service:
To modify the serverport of AppeonDB:
Step 1: Start Sybase SQL Anywhere
Step 2: Go to the properties of the AppeonDB service.
Step 3: In the Configuration tab page of the Properties, change the
serverport to another port (which is not used by any other service), for
example, the new port is 3333.
Step 4: Restart AppeonDB.
Step 5: Change the settings in the connection cache appeondb (keep the port
number
consistent with what you specified for the AppeonDB database service in
step 6. For example, change the server name from
"jdbc:sybase:Tds:localhost:3269" to "jdbc:sybase:Tds:localhost:3333".

If the problem still exists, please send the Jaguar.log (in the
%EAServer%\bin folder) and the EonSystem.log and EonError.log (in the
%Jaguar%\bin\appeonlog folder) to Appeon for further investigation.

Thanks,
Julie Jiang
Appeon Corporation
