Hi,

I have a menu with a menu item's object type set to menucascade.
When I uncheck the dropdown property the bitmap is no longer displayed in
the toolbar.

When I read the manual I understand that the toolbaritem should be displayed
as a regular toolbarbutton (without the little button with the down pointing
arrow next to it)

Before logging this as a bug I'd like to get a confirmation that I'm
understanding the docs correctly.

Thanks,

Arnoud

Arnoud,

Typically, a top level cascade menu doesn't have any function except to
organize and allow access to a submenu that has some functionality behind
it. So I am not sure that seeing a toolbar icon there that does nothing
would be much benefit if you are not using the toolbar for the top level
menu item as a dropdown but are displaying the submenu icons directly on the
toolbar instead.

It might help me if I understood what functionality you were trying to
provide with this non-dropdown cascadig toolbar icon.

Thanks,

Sanjiv.

I am building my menus dynamically.
I accomplish this by creating an instance of my own menu class (inherited
from the PB class menu) for each item and assigning IT to their parent menu
item array property.
I would also like to support cascading menus. The problem is the a
cascading menu is actually another PB class inherited from the PB class
menu.
What I would like to do is have my own menu class inherit from the PB class
menucascade rather than the PB class menu and disable the cascading
functionality when necessary.

Any thoughts on this matter are very welcome.

Regards,

Arnoud

Arnoud:

Check out my tutorial on dynamic menu items at http://eric.aling.tripod.com.
There are two versions of the tutorial and a sample application. It's been
a long time since I posted there, but I think the last tutorial included
example of how to create both top level and child menu items. If not, post
back here and I'll email you a sample.
