Hi,

ASA 9.0

I find it quite strange that Sybase have dropped the OEM bundle of ODBC DB2
WIRE PROTCOL from DataDirect.

Is this true ?

IF "YES"
Can we expect SYBASE to drop the "Oracle Wire Protocol" ?

Thanks for listening
Georgios

The decision to not brand the DB2 Wire protocol driver for v900 (for the
Windows release) was based on the fact that this driver could not pass all
our test streams, and we did not want to brand the driver with our name in
that situation. We've opened up support calls with DataDirect to address
the issues in hopes of being able to brand and ship the DB2 Wire Protocol in
future releases, and it looks like we'll be shipping the DB2 Wire Protocol
driver with v901 (although nothing is final until the CDs start getting
burned) thanks to some fixes made to the driver.

Each driver is tested individually, and the only reason for ever "dropping"
a driver from our install would be because the driver does not meet our
standards. The Oracle Wire Protocol has always passed our test streams, and
even if we did "drop" it for a single release, we'd most certainly be
looking to include it in our next point release.

Reg,

Btw do you have a timeframe for 9.0.1

I should also like to know what version of DataDirect drivers you are
targeting ?

Thanks in advance
Georgios
