Hi,

OK, I've killed the firewall to be sure it's not giving me a 6610 error when
connecting via AIS (my post dated 15-01-2004, 17:36, "Advantage Internet
Server problems").

I've setup a dictionary like the "tutorial" from Joachim Duerr on Tamarack
says.

When I execute this code:

AdsConnection.IsConnected := False;
AdsConnection.AdsServerTypes := [stADS_AIS];
AdsConnection.ConnectPath := '\\195.2.185.11:2001\ais\ais.add';
AdsConnection.Username := 'adssys';
AdsConnection.Password := 'pass';
AdsConnection.Connect;

AdsQuery.SQL.Clear;
AdsQuery.SQL.Add('SELECT * FROM Artikel');
AdsQuery.Open;

I keep getting the error 7078. I'm pretty sure I've setup the dictionary
right.

What can be wrong?

Thanx,
Roel.

Hi Roel,

Did you enabled internet connection for the ADSSYS user? The default is off.
In the Database manager, right click on the ADSSYS user and enable the
internet connection in the popup menu.

Your sample is probably just a testing case, but it is better to not use
ADSSYS user connection for normal application, especially on low bandwidth
situation. ADSSYS user connection requires considerably more network
bandwidth. Create another user for internet connection. This issue is being
addressed for the 7.1 release though.

Hi Alex,

Yes, I did enable it. When I make another user, roel for instance, with
enabled internet connection I get the same 7078 error.

I removed the dictionary with the associated tables and recreated it more
than once but it won't help.

7078 means can't authenticate the user. So at least the initial
connection works. It might be (for some instances) that the index file
for the dictionary was created with a different collation sequence than
you use now. I'd suggest to delete the .AI file and try again.

Hi Joachim,

I've removed the .AI file but still I'm getting a 7078... I recreated the AI
file with ARC32 ON THE SERVER with the REMOTE connection.

Roel.

8026 Error obtaining server drive information from server and share
names

ADS can't resolve "\\194.109.97.237:2001\ais\ais.add" to a valid drive.
Has the SYSTEM group full access to the _share_ (not _folder_) ais? Is
this the right IP address of the server?

Joachim,

Thanx. It works with high performance.

I shared the folder "AIS" on the server. This 'server' is a W2K SP4. What if
the server is a Novell Server (how to make the 'share')?

Roel.

Then you use SYS: or DATA: which acts like a share.
