**Make a backup of the files that you currently have. **

Your backup and recovery plan is always the first place to start. Do you
have a backup? If so, restore the database via your recovery plan. If you
have no backup, things get more difficult and you should prepare yourself
for a complete loss of this database.

Is the log file the complete log file for the history of this database? If
so, you can translate the log file and execute the sql to replace the data
into a new database. If not, it can play some role in your data salvage.

Without a backup, you need to be prepared to lose data. Take this
opportunity to revisit your backup and recovery plan as clearly there are
gaps.

That said,

If you have a backup from 4 months ago and the log files that were generated
after than backup, you can apply the transaction logs in order using -a
engine option. See the backup and recovery documentation in the manual for
specific discussions on how to use that switch.

The other option is to dbtran all the log files and replay the sql should
the recovery using -a fail.

If you need more specific help, open a technical support case who can assist
you during your recovery attempt.

Connect to the database and execute the translated SQL.

***PLEASE NOTE***
It would be far better for you to recovery starting with your backup and
applying the logs than rebuilding from LOGs.

If this is truly an urgent case, I suggest opening a case with Technical
Support. These newsgroups are not an official support channel.

We *try* to get things right here in the newsgroups, but without having
proper background information and case history, we may miss some key
elements crucial to your scenario.

As Chris pointed out in his first post, make sure you have a backup of
all the files you have and work with copies of those files.
