When files for datawindow retrieves are compressed, I get 0 records back
(but if I print from this emty datawindow it prints fine) and the print
preview shows only a broken link.

I noticed that the field settings are backwards in AEM so that is not my
problem.

When I look at the servlet log it says that it cannot find the URL to the
cached files.

I have tried moving the data file path around and all formats of the URL and
nothing seems to work.

Anyone have any ideas what I may be doing wrong?

Hi Marko,

Appeon engineer would like to get more information for the case-handling:

1) The description of the steps you performed. Appeon engineer wants to go
over the steps for reproducing the error.

2) The "field settings" in AEM. Can you please provide a screenshot with the
AEM settings?

3) The error screenshot.

4) The servlet log.

Thanks,
Julie Jiang

Thank you for your prompt response.

1) I am simply retrieving a datawindow. When the record count that should
come back is low, there is no problem. When it is higher and gzip kicks in,
I get no error in the app, just 0 rows returned.

2) See attached.

3) No error in app. See last line of attached log.

4) See attached.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Marko,

It seems that the most possible cause for the problem is that the Data Retrieval Settings in AEM has been changed. As described in the Data Retrieval Settings of the Appeon Enterprise Manager User Guide, the rule for specifying the data files path and the URL is:

(1) The data files path should be a physical path in the EAServer/html directory, for example, C:/Program Files/Sybase/EAServer/html/

(2) The URL specified will be added as a suffix to the URL of the deployed application.

Can you please try the following and let us know whether it works:

(1) Please specify the data files path as "C:/Programe Files/Sybase/EAServer/html/appeon_temp_files/", and specify the URL path as "/appeon_temp_files/"

(2) (Due to an Appeon bug) Please correct the HTTP property of the EAServer, changing it to "type:string&val:gzip&url=/appeon_temp_files/gzip

(3) After that, re-run the application.

Julie Jiang

On point 2, I am not sure which property you are addressing.  How do I get to the HTTP Property in the EAServer Manager?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Marko,

The following are instructions from the EAServer System Administration Guide (in the "Configuring a server" section) about how to set the HTTP property in the EAServer Manager:
(1) From within Jaguar Manager, display the list of installed servers by double-clicking the Servers folder.
(2) Highlight the server you want to configure.
(3) Select File | Server Properties. You see the Server Properties window, which contains multiple tabs.  One of them is HTTP Custom Headers.
In our case, please edit the HTTP header property in the tab by changing it to "type:string&val:gzip&url=/appeon_temp_files/gzip".
