Hi

We have a customer who has just rebuilt a Sybase database (using the
dbunload command) and now gets the following message when starting up the
new database:

Assertion failure 101412 - Page number on page does not match page
requested. transaction rolled back.

This is using Sybase 8.0.2.4122. They have tried rebuilding again and get
the same issue. Any ideas? The original database appears to run ok.

Thanks

AndyB

Can you try this on a different machine to rule out hardware issues. Also,
make sure that the task is performed on the same physical machine.

If you can repeat this on a more recent EBF (4372), it would be best to
submit this problem for investigation. The unload/reload process should not
corrupt the database.

Some questions to help isolate possible causes:

- What database activity is happening during startup? You can normally
only get that error if SQL is being executed.

- What creation options does the database have (e.g. page size, case,
encryption, etc)?

- What platform are you running on?

- What is your engine start line?

Stephen/Chris,

Thanks for the prompt response. Our customer is 5,000 miles away so it is
tricky trying to get the full picture....

The error happens when starting up the database using dbeng8 -m
c:\thedatabase.db. After the error the database closes down and cannot be
accessed.

They are running on Win2000 SP6.

The creation options are -b -e -k -p 4096

They tell me that the new db works on one workstation but gets the error
when copied to another workstation (same configuration, same version of
Sybase, same start line)

Where do I get EBF 4372 - I can only find 4322?

This is really puzzling me as I have not come across this before.

Any pointers would be grately appreciated

Regards

AndyB

Chris/Stephen

Just heard from our customer. Apparently all is well now. They rebuilt the
database and applied two Sybase patches (not sure which ones). The database
can now be copied and runs OK on multiple PC's.

It is late here, so no doubt I will hear what happened tomorrow. thanks
for the help and I hope this is closure!

Regards
