In addition to what Bart said, get one or two books on "just plain
SQL". Try an amazon.com search on "Books" for "sql beginners".

The plug always appears in my signature line :)

Besides, two problems: first is Sen needs something *right now* and
"the book" won't ship for a while. Second is, Sen might like the book
but he also needs something to get him started on the basics, coming
from the non-relational world; the book assumes some experience.

Yes, soon :)

I have 1.02 chapters left to write. Then the publisher does his thing.
So summertime is my guess.

Sure... will you be at Techwave?

The book may be available in 6 weeks or 2 months; the manuscript is in
the hands of the publisher.

Hi Sen

Best way to start, is to try it. Download the Developers Edition:
http://www.sybase.com/detail/1,6904,1016644,00.html

The documentation is pretty good. As a starting point, look at manuals
called:
'Introducing SQL Anywhere Studio' and 'ASA Getting Started'. These two
books contain easy to follow step-by-step guides and tutorials
introducing various SQL Anywhere database concepts, tools and utilities.

Good luck
