Hi there,

We're testing Appeon 2.7 , and have run into some severe DB errors when
running the application in the browser.
The error messages are vague, and we cannot find any documentation about
what might be
the problem, and how to resolve.

Following is the tech details :

* Appeon 2.7
* PB 8.0.4 build 10501 and above
* EAServer 4.2.2 build 42211
* ASA 8.0.2 build 4361
* AppeonDB service started

Getting the following errors
1) On the Appeon ACF Demo, we get an error 50004 - see attached db error 1.
2) On our own application, we just get a "General Error - application
terminated"
3) Note - the Appeon Code Example runs fine

We have
1) working connection caches for ACF Demo and our app in Jaguar (both ping
fine),
2) connection through PB ODBC works
3) The AEM connection is defined properly for both apps.

We have tried Undeploying the application, removing all files in
EAServer\HTML, and redeploying.
Still failing.
Uninstalled Appeon Developer, and reinstalled . Same problem.

There is a definite lack of documentation on how to deal with errors, and
the errors themselves
are too general - I would not want a production app to fail with such errors
!

TIA,

PBS

The cause of the problem should be that AppeonDB is not started correctly (although it is in the started status).  Please:
1) Stop AppeonDB and then start it manually.
2) Restart EAServer.
3) Redeploy the ACF demo using the Full Application Deployment mode.
4) Run the application again.

You will find that the document Appeon Troubleshooting Guide talks about how to handle different errors during Appeon Installation, application deployment, and running of Web applications. The document does not cover every troubleshooting scenario for now, but is expanding and will contain more useful information in the coming versions.  As always, Appeon will try to support customers better, gather more error information and reflect the information in the documents. We appreciate very much that you reported the case in the newsgroup.

Hi Julie,

Thank you for your response.
Rebooting the computer seems to have resolved this.

Does the AppeonDB have to be running as a service when running the web application ?
I actually brought down the service, and the apps are still running ....

thanks,

Hi PBS,

It is correct that the app may run correctly when the AppeonDB service is stopped.  However, Appeon engineer strongly recommends that you keep the AppeonDB running as a service when running the Web application.  There are two reasons: (1) It may cause runtime error when the Web app attempts to write registry or user profile information into the AppeonDB; (2) AEM will not work correctly if the service is not started.

Hi Julie,

We're still getting the errors that are described in my first email - and aside from rebooting ,we don't know how to resolve.
After rebooting, it works for awhile, and then after some time, we start getting either one of the messages. The cache pings OK,
and we don't have any other DB's that are up and running.
I also tried restarting the AppeonDB, but this did not change anything.

TIA,
PBS
