There is an example in the 12.5.1 Reference Manual

(since this regards an existing feature, rather than an enhancement

Sorry, I may have spoken too soon. The entry is apparently for
a feature that didn't actually make it into 12.5.1 and so is
in the manual by mistake; the syntax certainly doesn't work
on 12.5.1 ESD #2. I'm working on finding out more about it.

Engineering has confirmed that this is simply a documentation
error. There are plans to implement "interval" types and
the overlaps predicate, but not in 12.5.x.
