The Appeon Sales Order Demo on sybase website does not work behind the
firewall. We also deployed the same thing on our internal Intranet on
EAServer/Appeon Server and had the same problem: It gave the Cannot Create
Synax 1 error!

We even folowed all the instructions for setting IE correctly.
Is there a way to run it behind the firewall?

If you are using a proxy server, please make sure the option "Use HTTP 1.1
through proxy connections" in IE is selected (see the attached graphic)
before running the demo.

By default, the option is disabled, that is why the "click the Restore
Defaults button to restore the default settings for the Advanced options"
instruction may not solve the problem.

Hi,

Since you are using a Firewall, please make sure that the TCP/IP settings of
the Firewall have included the URL (and the port numbers) of the demo
applications as permitted ones, the EAServer and Web server are trusted
sites.

If the problem persists in your machine, Appeon will be glad to study the
case more closely and help you out. We need more information. Can you please
provide:

- Version of your operation system
- Version of the Internet Explorer
- Firewall settings, including what IP addresses and Port numbers are
permitted, what are trusted sites, whether the Port of the Demo is among the
permitted port
- If possible, please provide the screenshots of the Firewall settings, and
the screenshots of IE settings
- Error screenshots

Thanks,
Julie Jiang

Appeon engineer studied the bitmap you provided, but still think that they
cannot find the cause of the problem without the information we have asked
for. Can you please further help and feedback as much as possible on the
following questions:

- Version of your operation system (including the patch version)
- Version of the Internet Explorer (including the patch version)
- Firewall settings, including what IP addresses and Port numbers are
permitted, what are trusted sites, whether the Port of the Demo is among the
permitted port
- Error screenshots (which should be the screenshot of the whole IE)
- The log files in the %JAGUAR%\bin\*.log and %JAGUAR%\bin\appeonlog\*.log

Julie Jiang

This solved other customers' similar issues:

Configuring Internet Explorer

Proxy Connections

Please make sure that the Internet Explorer option "Use HTTP 1.1 through
proxy connections" located in Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet
Options -> Advanced tab -> "Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections" is
selected before running the demo.

By default, this option is disabled and that is why the "click the Restore
Defaults button to restore the default settings for the Advanced options"
instruction does not solve the problem.
