I've installed the Appeon developer and server on my
desktop, and checked that my PB, EAServer and ASA met the
requirements. I restarted the machine, started EAServer and
launched the sales application demo. I get the login screen,
click the login button and then the browser is displayed
with the menu and some square boxes where the app's toolbar
icons should probably be. Clicking any menu does nothing.

I've gone through the troubleshooting guide, verified my IE
settings, verified that both ASA DBs are running but still
no luck. None of the Appeon or EAServer logs display any
errors.

I re-ran a full deploy on the app but still have the same
behaviour.

Any ideas on what else I can check?

Are you using Appeon 2.7 for PowerBuilder or an earlier version?  Please make sure you are using Appeon 2.7 for PowerBuilder because it is the most recent GA version.  You can request your copy through your Sybase Account Manager.

If you are already using Appeon 2.7, we think the cause of the error is that the Sales App Demo is not successfully deployed. Can you please do the following:
1) Uninstall Appeon 2.7 for PowerBuilder from the Control Panel
2) Reinstall Appeon 2.7 for PowerBuilder again
3) Start EAServer from the Windows start menu
4) Run the Web Sales App Demo

If the problem still exists, please provide further information to Appeon engineer for further investigation:
1) The error screenshot
2) The environment information: OS version, IE version, ASA version, and whether you use Firewall or not
3) In the AEM, set the Log mode as Debug, and then re-run the problematic application.  Please send the %JAGUAR%\bin\*.log files to us (you can choose to directly email the files to me).
3) If possible, zip the files in the %JAGUAR%\html\sales_application_demo and send to me.

We would like to get the problem resolved for you ASAP.

Regards,
Julie Jiang
