Currently have SQL anywhere 7.0.0 on a Netware 5.1 sp5 server. have
version 9 developer to test - but have not been successful upgrading the DB
to 9 .
I found out when loading the Db with 9 that the db version is at 5. I
cannot upgrade the DB to 7 because it needs to be at ver 6. and cannot
upgrade to 9 because it is prior to 7. I have been using sybase central.
What is the best way to upgrade this DB to 9? It seems I need to upgrade to
6 then 7 then 8 then 9. but I do not have sql anywhere studio 6 or 8.
I am not a database guru.
Any help would be appreciated.

Dave

From the ASA 9.0 online docs, see:

What's New in SQL Anywhere Studio
Upgrading Software and Databases
Upgrading Adaptive Server Anywhere
- Upgrading the database file format

It details the necessary steps using either Sybase Central or the
command-line utilities.

Hope this helps,

You should run "dbupgrad" then "dbunload -ar" from a command prompt against
your v55 database from a non-Netware system where you have ASA v9 installed
(since the tools do not exist on Netware). You do NOT need to upgrade from
5 to 6 to 7 to 8 to 9, you can go straight from v5, although Sybase Central
is often a little picky about databases without proper jConnect support
installed.
