As Steve points out, the body of the email can be any text at all.

You might consider looking at the new XML functions in ASA 9.0. Using
those functions, you can generate HTML/XHTML tags along with the data
you retrieve from your database tables.

See "XML" in the index of the ASA 9.x online docs, specifically
XMLELEMENT, XMLCONCAT, XMLFOREST, etc...

Hope this helps,

Where are the tags that identify the text as an HTML page? For you to have
any luck interpreting the text as HTML, you must add the tags <html> and
</html> and your receiving email client must allow for HTML content. For
example, many email clients allow you to configure the client to read email
as plain text so you formating will be lost.

I believe emails sent from within the database are using plain text
format, so I dont believe this is possible.

The problem here (likely) is a headers issue. I don't know which email
client you are targeting, but you will need to find out what the
requirements are for emails that contain HTML to be interpreted as HTML.

Take a look at the email headers for files that are getting rendered vs.
that of the emails you are sending via xp_sendmail(). I suspect that
there is a "Content-type" or "MIME-type" header that identifies the HTML
emails as HTML and the others are either identified as "text/plain" or
they are defaulting to text.

It is possible that we can do something with current SQL language to add
particular headers, but if not then this issue should be posted to the
newsgroup sybase.public.sqlanywhere.product_futures_discussion for
consideration in upcoming releases.

Let us know what you find out,

What did you find out when comparing email headers of emails that render

by the receiving side to intrepret the document as HTML. If this is a
feature that you want, please submit an enhancement request by contacting
technical support or by submitting it via
