During my development of web pages using AvantGo M Biz
Server Application Edition 5.2 b41, I occassionally run into
bugs that cause the page to stop executing on the PocketPC
in mid-process.

Sometimes these errors occur before the Avantgo DBmgr has a
chance to close a data set. This leads to all kinds of funky
behavior. Usually, I can simply delete my Channel Cache,
re-sync and my datasets come back.

Sometimes, the Pocket PC gets into a strange state that I
can't seem to recover from. When I use ActiveSync to
synchronize with the PocketPC, the AvantGo portion fails
with the error message "Device Components Missing or Out of
Date." When this happens, I'm usually forced to re-install
the AvantGo Client on the PocketPC.

The Modem Sync option on the PocketPC AvantGo client works,
just the ActiveSync Sync keeps failing. The sync_error.log
doesn't even show any entries for this.

Any idea how to fix this problem?

Yes.

"Device Components Missing or Out of Date" is the error we get back
from Windows when we can't load one of our .dlls. The problem is that
PPC 2002 has very limited amounts of virtual memory. This affects us
as well as many other large applications. The solution is simple:
stop all running applications before syncing.
