I have deployed a PFC application to Appeon and am getting the Create
Session Failed error. I checked out the Troubleshooting Guide and followed
the items listed there with no success. Note that everything is deployed on
the same workstation, PowerBuilder 8.0.4, EAServer 4.2.2 and Appeon 2.7.

Below is the full error trace from the Jaguar.log file.

Any ideas on what else to check?

FYI, I updated to EAServer 5.0 and Java JDK 1.4, and the same error and
messages are occurring.

Hi Brad,

After the release of Appeon 2.7, the engineer finds that there are two more possible causes for the "Create Session failed" problem.

1) If you are using IE 6.0 and a proxy server, please make sure the IE option "Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections" in IE is selected (see the attached graphic) before running the demo. By default, the option is disabled.

2) The error occurs if you added new roles to the ASInterface package in the Jaguar Manager, for example, if you installed the exsiting role, system, to the role membership of the ASInterface package in the Jaguar Manager.  The role rights are changed in this way, that expains why there is "SystemException: NO_PERMISSION" error in the log file, and why there is "create session failed" error.

If the problem is not resolved, please let me know.  Our engineer will further investigate it.

Regards,
Julie

Regards,
Julie

Hi Brad,
The error may occur if the OS authentication setting in the EAServer is incorrect. Please take the following steps to verify it:

  1. Run the EAServer and Jaguar Manager
  2. Go to the Properties for the server
  3. Set the property "com.Sybase.jaguar.server.authentication" to false
  4. Restart EAServer

If the problem does not occur again, that means our analysis is right.  We suggest you either keep the property authentication disabled or correct the OS authentication setting (by referring to the first chapter of the EAServer System Administration Guide --- I attached it here for your convenience).

Regards,
Julie

Julie, there was no com.Sybase.jaguar.server.authentication, so I added one and set it to false.

I also looked at the attached Guide.  The Enable OS Authentication checkbox is not checked.

No change.

Hi Brad,
The error may occur if the OS authentication setting in the EAServer is incorrect. Please take the following steps to verify it:

  1. Run the EAServer and Jaguar Manager
  2. Go to the Properties for the server
  3. Set the property "com.Sybase.jaguar.server.authentication" to false
  4. Restart EAServer

If the problem does not occur again, that means our analysis is right.  We suggest you either keep the property authentication disabled or correct the OS authentication setting (by referring to the first chapter of the EAServer System Administration Guide --- I attached it here for your convenience).

Regards,
Julie

Hey Julie.

1) I saw the "Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections" in the troubleshooting guide, and checked that.  I can run the demos on the try.sybase site just fine, but not the ones on my own workstation.

2) I have not touched any of the object properties.  I have a completely fresh installation.  I double-checked and there are no roles in the Role Membership of the ASInterface package in the EAServer Manager.

Not to be too pushy, but we are examining this as a way to deploy an application that a client would like to see ASAP.  The success of us being able to provide them a "hands-on" demonstration of our product is likely to determine whether or not we secure them as client.  If I can't resolve this by the end of Monday, I will need to seek other avenues.

Julie

FYI, your email prompted another idea.  I had a self-coded AuthService object running for my Web security.  I took this out of the "com.sybase.jaguar.server.authservice" server property, and I can now run your demos.  I will test my own application and let you know if I still have problems.

Hi Brad,
The error may occur if the OS authentication setting in the EAServer is incorrect. Please take the following steps to verify it:

  1. Run the EAServer and Jaguar Manager
  2. Go to the Properties for the server
  3. Set the property "com.Sybase.jaguar.server.authentication" to false

If the problem does not occur again, that means our analysis is right.  We suggest you either keep the property authentication disabled or correct the OS authentication setting (by referring to the first chapter of the EAServer System Administration Guide --- I attached it here for your convenience).

Brad,

Thanks for your idea and the update!

Julie

FYI, your email prompted another idea.  I had a self-coded AuthService object running for my Web security.  I took this out of the "com.sybase.jaguar.server.authservice" server property, and I can now run your demos.  I will test my own application and let you know if I still have problems.
"Brad Ashton" <brad,ashton@gbrx.com> wrote in message news:4083eb71$1@forums-2-dub...
Julie, there was no com.Sybase.jaguar.server.authentication, so I added one and set it to false.

I also looked at the attached Guide.  The Enable OS Authentication checkbox is not checked.

No change.
"Julie Jiang" <julie.jiang@appeon.net> wrote in message news:4083baf7@forums-2-dub...
Hi Brad,
The error may occur if the OS authentication setting in the EAServer is incorrect.

Regards,
Julie

So far so good.  There are, of course, the normal compliance issues I need to deal with, but the application now launches fine.

Hi Brad,
The error may occur if the OS authentication setting in the EAServer is incorrect. Please take the following steps to verify it:

  1. Run the EAServer and Jaguar Manager
  2. Go to the Properties for the server
  3. Set the property "com.Sybase.jaguar.server.authentication" to false
  4. Restart EAServer

If the problem does not occur again, that means our analysis is right.  We suggest you either keep the property authentication disabled or correct the OS authentication setting (by referring to the first chapter of the EAServer System Administration Guide --- I attached it here for your convenience).

Regards,
Julie
