Maybe I'm completely overtired, but I don't believe that there is an
scjview "service" that automatically starts in ASA8.

Are you sure this isn't the "fast launcher" feature of SC and DBISQL in
ASA9 you are seeing?

I was probably wrong to call it a service, but I do mean the fast launcher
feature.

I was looking in ASA8 and didn't find anything to control it, but when you
mentioned ASA9 I started up that version of Sybase Central and found it
there, under Tools/Options.
