I'm using ASA 8.02.3601,on iPaq 3970 with Pocket PC 2002.

After starting my application I got error message box

"An error occurred loading the language resource file
(dblgen8.dll).

How can I correct this error ?

I would try a recent EBF and see if that helps.

Since this is a PPC this could be due to any one of these possibilities:

- you just have a bad binary copy of the dll (or other support dll)
[almost any replacement should fix this]

- you do not have a copy installed on the device
[almost any replacement or reinstall should fix this]

- you are hitting the memory limitations of the CE process
memory map [see next paragraph]

- you may even have a miss-matched version installation
of that dll [see last paragraph ] but this should be less
likely with our standard install

The latter is something that comes up from time to time and
the ebf might help even in that case, but changing your load
order is the other option available. You can verify this
possibility (usually) by stopping all tasks and launching
the server first. If the problem persists then focus on the
other aspects

You will also want to make certain you do not have
duplicate copies of that. The standard location is in the
\Windows directory but if you just manually copied your
latest install onto the device, you may be picking up the
wrong version from the [implied] path instead.

Thank You for help.
I'm sure dll and version is OK (our application was working
while it was smaller), problem will be memory.
I tried changing load order and it helped a little -
the message about dblgen8.dll is not displayed any more
(while the database engine loads first),
but its not possible to connect to database
(SQLDriverConnect doesn't return, the application hangs up).
What is EBF ? Have You some other ideas ?
Thank You

EBF stands for Express Bug Fix and you can access those
off of the iAnywhere SQL Anywhere Studio, support page

http://www.ianywhere.com/support/sql_anywhere.html

see the "EBF / Patches" link.

Once you sign up (or sign up and then sign in) you should find
a Windows CE group of ebfs for SQL Anywhere Studio. Pick
the most resent one for 8.0.2; which is currently build 4392

SQL Anywhere Studio - Express Bug Fix, Update of 8.0.2 to build 4392

If you pick the 'read me' (doc. icon to the left of the link) you can
read what issues have been identified and fixed in that ebf

Good luck with this. You seem to be tripping over a major weakness
of CE's DLL loader.

You connection problems should be move to an new thread.
