Hi All,

we use client 5.5 in application mode (xml application), and noticed that
the client, throughout the day gets very slow (at the end of the day it is
10-times slower than after a restart of the device).

The only way to repair the situation is to restart the device (or shut down
the avantgo application through the memory control panel).

Has anyone seen this, and are there any fixes to this?

It is possible that we are not doing something that we should, however I
have not seen anywhere in the documentation about specifically releasing
variables/memory etc.

thanks,
Marcin

Marcin,

I know we are investigating a potential memory leak with the XML database
currently. I would recommend that you open a ticket so that we can track it
and also to see if you are seeing the same thing (which helps us) or
something different (which also helps us).

In the mean time, I can save you a few taps - you can quit the client from
within the client by typing Control-Q from the onscreen keyboard.

ok, thanks.

This is a very helpful tip especially since we have a problem with the
devices sometimes needing a reboot.
Gracefully shutting down the client is very important as to NOT corrupt the
forms index file (something that we have had happended to us on a few
occasions).

Hi Chris,

have you experienced a corrupted forms index file, associated with the
memory leakage problem?
The memory leaks, and avantgo can not save forms information in the index
file and on some occasions (we have been fighting with this problem for
months, and can not replicate it every time) the forms go missing from the
index file (they are actually still there in the
/avantgo/databases/AGFORMxx/ directory).

Marcin,

How are you interacting with the forms queue? Are you doing a lot of
programmatic traversing of pending forms?

Thanks,

Chris...
