Hello all,

I have a user who works on two locations in our company(several days on
one location, rest of week on another location). His Lotus mail base is
replicated between servers on both locations. For now, he only sync his
Palm on one location. If I allow him to sync also on another location,
how sync will go? Is there some possible problems(like duplicate entries
in calendar or tasks?)
We are using Lotus 6.5, and XTCS 3.6 on first location and OBMG 4.0 on
another location.

Tnx,
Davor

Hi,

I would suggest using only one of the XCS servers for tis user, not both,
that will probalbly result in an initial sync when switching.

Just make sure that the XCs server at site A can be reached bij the XCs
client (port 5001...) from site B.

You should be able to route this traffic over the same line as tour notes
replication.

You night want to make sure replication is done frequently

Hi,

if I create on his Palm two profiles in client app (for A and B
locations), does it mean that initial sync will occur every time he is
syncing? Or just the first time?
I am asking this because solution to sync from same server from both
location is for now impossible because of network configuration between
this two locations.

Best regards,
Davor

If you're syncing against two servers and constantly switching i think
you'll see initial syncs every time.

Didn't test this though. It might work but the product probably was not
"designed" to do this.

Assuming that you have at least a constant internet connection at both
locations You could use the DMZ proxy to route this traffic.
Here are some examples.

Set up a DMZ proxy in site B that routes the traffic to Site A. That way you
always know the senders IP address, that might help you in your router /
firewall.

Or you could set up the DMZ proxy in site A , configure your fireall to only
route traffic to this DMZ on port 5001 if traffic is coming from IP address
of router in Site B.

Both methods would give you a secure way of syncing across the internet.
