I have a client running SQL Anywhere version 9.01 (1843). Currently there
are two servers a consolidated server at the home office and a remote server
at the site. All tables and rows are replicated between the two dbs. The
two sites replicate using the FTP message agent. The application running at
the remote site is a point of sale program and the client would like to have
a backup pc with a live copy of the db on it. What is the best option to
accomplish this?

Can I use a live backup with a replicated db? Or should I move the
consolidated db to the remote site and move the remote db to the home
office. Which would allow me to have a second backup server at the remote
site that I can replicate to using the file message agent?

Any thoughts...

Yes, no problem.

Can't really comment any more without knowing what backup routine you
are already running on both systems.

I will be unable to use the live backup method. The client wants to be able
to switch to the live backup without restoring a backup db. The client does
not have any onsite IT support.
