When I try to save a blob field after doing an edit on the data, my
application crashes with a Windows pointer violation.
Initially I can enter a large amount to text into the field and save it
without error. If I then go and edit the data,
then try to save it, the application crashes immediately.

In all cases, the database engine is still running, and I'm able to
reconnect and continue with other queries etc.

I'm using the following:

SQLAnywhere 9.0.1.1862 on Windows. (XP & NT)
Borland development tools. C++ Builder, version 5.x
ODBC connection.
The field in the table is defined as long varchar.
The windows front-end is using a RichText edit box.

I upgraded to ASA ver 9.0.1 after watching one of your web-casts, where the
developer was using Borland
tools for the front-end development, and he in fact mentioned that the
issues for using blobs with Borland tools
had been resolved. I've used ASA versions 6, 7, 8, and now 9 ... non of
them have worked.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Tom Barfoot.

Hi Tom,
I would recommend opening a case with Tech Support and submitting the
reproducible example.
