Hi all,

Using PB 9.0.1 and EAServer 4.2.0

when you issue a javap (jdk14) for a class that has a subclass encapsulated
(inner class) the output contains:

"public class be.sofico.basecamp.general.util.SysRepObjectConfiguration.
PolicyConfig extends java.lang.Object implements java.io.Serializable"

(see below for full output)

the following is the output of ejb2pb90.exe:

"Bad Java class name:
be.sofico.basecamp.general.util.SysRepObjectConfiguration."

note that the last character is the dot.

If i'm correct, javap makes the error: instead of generating
'SysRepObjectConfiguration.PolicyConfig' for the inner class it generates
'SysRepObjectConfiguration. PolicyConfig'
Note (see full log below) that the constructor event of
be.sofico.basecamp.general.util.SysRepObjectConfiguration.PolicyConfig does
have the name correct.

How or why the space appears, i don't know. What i do know is that our proxy
generation fails.
Maybe ejb2pb90 could give a warning but still continue the process?

Can somebody double check this?
If this is a bug in javap, where do i report it?

Thanks,

Ben

PS: we're working around it changing the innerclass into 2 separate classes,
so this isn't really urgent.

strange.. i've tested with the very same PB build.

what java (or javap) version did you use? my guess is that there the problem
lies.

I was using the one that came with PowerBuilder:
java version "1.4.0"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.0-b92)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.0-b92, mixed mode).
The fix is also mentioned in the release notes:

Change Request#: 311953 Priority: 2
Product Name: PB Enterprise - 9.0 OS: Microsoft Windows 2000
Product Component: EJB Client

Fixed in Version #:
9.0.1_7171

Description:
Proxy generation fails for a Java class that includes an inner class. The
source of the problem may be a bug in javap output; however, it is something
we should provide a workaround for.
