Problem: If we use the application continuously for good
amount of time the application crashes and if we look at the
database log it says:

"Resource governor for 'prepared statements' exceeded"

On setting the following options in the database

SET OPTION PUBLIC.MAX_STATEMENT_COUNT = 0
SET OPTION PUBLIC.MAX_CURSOR_COUNT = 0

There was some improvement but still we are getting lot of
crashes please let me know.

Thanks and Regards,
Denney

You have a statement leak in your client application. You should not be
setting these options to 0 as all it does it mask a major isssue. If there
statements are leaking, there will be resource stavation issue for the
engine which could explain why the engine is dying. Also, can you describe
the exact symptoms of 'crash'? Do you mean an error? A GPF? Other?

What is your application development tool?
What connectivity technology is used?
What version and build of ASA are you using?

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the info. When I said crash I mean the
application was closing down as we have exceptions which
check for any database exception and closes the app.

> What is your application development tool?
Visual studio.net with Sybase

> What version and build of ASA are you using?
ASA Version 9.0.1.1862

Also can you please confirm if there was a bug in 8.0 on
these lines.

Thanks
Denney

This does not appear to be a bug. You need to release the resources
allocated to prepared statements. As you have not mentioned the
connectivity technology (ASAProv, ODBC, .Net managed provider) I am nost
sure what is required to release those resources.
