Hello,

I have created a remote server using the following :
CREATE SERVER remote_mssqlserver CLASS 'mssodbc'
USING 'driver=SQL Server;server=JUPITER;
database=checklist;
uid=KasamaliH;
pwd=xxx'

When I create the proxy table using SQL Central wizard and
enter the name of the database in which the table exist and
click Next I get the following error

ASA-Error -656 : Unable to connect to server
'remote_mssqlserver':
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found
and no default driver specified.

Note : KasamaliH is a valid login as set in SQL Server
Enterprise Manager and I can create a system dsn on my pc
and server pc to connect to the sql server database using
this login.

Also I am executing these command from my local workstation
and the ASA server is somewhere on the network

Am I missing any connection parameters in the Create server
command ?

I am using Asa 7.03 Build 2046 database server engine. I am
using Sybase Central 4.0.1.747 with a ASA 7 plugin having
version number 7.04.2788

Version of SQL Server driver on the server PC on which Asa
is running is 2000.81.7713.00 and the version of SQL Server
driver on my PC is 2000.81.7713.00

All help will be highly appreciated

The USING clause is supposed to contain a DSN, so create one using the
ODBC Administrator or dbdsn, and then name it in the USING 'dsn'
clause.

Breck,

Thanks its worked now.

However I must say that I've created a remote server to
another ASA database server and used the following for the
USING clause
'driver=adaptive server anywhere 7.0;eng=devtest;
dbn=devtest; links=tcpip{}' and it works
