I'm in process of upgrading from Sybase 6.0.3 to
Sybase9.0.1. I still need access to Sybase 6.

When attempting to switch back and forth, I now get a
"pagesize too big" error when attempt to connect using 6.

Any hints to overcome this?

The default page size for v6 databases was 1K, and the default page size for
v9 is 2K. I suspect you'll run into problems if you first start a database
engine and load only the v6 database and then later try to mount the v9
database on the same engine. Because the only database on the engine was a
1K page size database when you first started the engine, databases with
larger page sizes (i.e. 2K) cannot be loaded onto this engine.

I'd suggest adding "-gp 2048" to your engine start line to ensure that the
database engine is always using a 2K page size for it's memory allocation so
that both 1K and 2K page size databases can be loaded onto the same engine.
