Hi

Making good progress with DW.NET (has many desirable
features). I appreciate that its controls are not part of
the winform controls. However is they any way of having a
datetime picker for date data entry to supplement typing?

Thanks

Alex

Not easily. Integrating DateTime picker into the DataWindow itself
(for PowerBuilder users as well) is on tap, so as a result it would be
available in DW.NET as well, but I can't give you a date as to when
that might happen.

You could 'fake' it by hiding and showing a .NET control when the date
field gets focus, but I tried it and making it look smooth may be a
challenge.

You'll have to wire you own -- you can take a look at the PFC drop-down
calendar service to get an idea of how to implement this. FWIW, the
calendar itself need not be a datawindow, as the PFC one -- it could
very well be the standard calendar control.

Hi

Appreciate your comments. However I'm not a PB user (rarity
in this forum?) and so no access to or understanding of PFC.

Thanks

We hope you won't be a rarity for long!

As Jim wrote, we have plans to add that capability to the next release
of PB so DataWindow .NET will have it as well. In the meantime I'll
see if I can come up with a .NET equivalent of what the PFC offers.

Thanks, again

Soon I'll post my impressions of DW.NET as a non-PB
developer. I've looked at many rapid development tools for
.NET recently and I think DW.NET compares favourably. The
changes for the next release will be important to make
DW.NET more part of .NET and not just "hosted" by .NET, if
that makes sense. This would increase the acceptance by a
non-PB .NET community.

I look forward to your feedback. Our goal is to make this product as

success.

Well, the PFC calendar uses a custom event called pfc_dropdown (which
you can implement as a delegate), which in turn, calls a method called
of_dropdown.

The method code is as follows (even if you're not a PB user, you should
be able to understand what it's doing):

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
//
// Function: of_DropDown
//
// Access: Protected
//
// Arguments: None
//
// Returns: Integer
// 1 if it succeeds
// -1 if an error occurs.
// 0 if the current datawindow column has not been registered.
//
// Description:
// Drop Down the Calendar after getting the appropriate location.
// For datawindow columns check that the current column has
// been registered.

Integer li_rc

Integer li_y

End If
