Hello,

We work in a big project with Appeon for PowerBuilder 2.7 an
we have to install an Appeon server for an application with
a demand between 500 to 600 users (about 50 concurrents
users).

How much server capacity do you recommend us? What features
of memory, processor or disk do you estimate we have to
buy?.

Regards
Cesar Angulo.

Hi, Cesar;

Can you tell us what is the network environment you use to run this project?
And do you have high requirements on runtime performance?
Then we can give you a suggestion on hardware requirements.

Regards,
Julie

Hi, Julie

Thanks for your answer.

Well, we're planning to deploy our Appeon web applications
on a typical 10/100 Mb LAN for internal use only at the
beginning. In this environment we have performance
requirements for online transactional process and reports
with a medium exigency. We talk around 100 to 120 records
per second on the cliente side machine. But, our main
problem is the number of concurrent users to support (40 to
50).

We have heard to use a clustering option with EAServer as an
alternative. Is that a good idea?

Regards,
Cesar.

Hi Cesar,

Clustering is certainly good option that Appeon encourages you to take. Chapter
5: Appeon Server Cluster Configuration in the Appeon Installation Guide provides
instructions on how to set up Appeon Server clustering.

FYI, Appeon 2.8 for PowerBuilder can support 60~80 concurrent users and have
good run-time performance. The maximum number of concurrent users one CPU can
support is 190. What's more important, the performance with Appeon 2.8 is 4-10
times as fast as Appeon 2.7. It is recommended that you first deploy and debug
the application with Appeon 2.7, and then use Appeon 2.8 for production.

Regards,
Julie Jiang
