We have setup a warm standby replication for multiple
databases. At regullar intevals we get an access violation
of the replication agent. We cannot stop and restart this
replication agent. The only possible action if to stop and
restart the SQL Server and then the replication agent
recovers without any problem. I know this is a kind of
question for Sybase support but for reasons too complicated
to explain here I cannot submit this to Sybase support.

Three questions:
- has any else encountered this?
- what is the reason for this?
- what is the solution or workaround?
My email address is Mike.Aerts@siemens.com

Thanks in advance,

Mike

You have problems with Windows 2000 configuration.

You need SP2 or SP4 for Win2000, other solution is migrate ASE 12.5 to
ASE 12.5.1 or 12.5.2.

What Replication Agent uses, what version and for what Replication
Server Option uses?

For the replication agent for ASE (incorporated) you try run the command
"sp_start_rep_agent <database>" in ASE for up.
