View Source? Do you mean Edit Source when right clicking on a
DataWIndow in the Treeview, or Convert to Syntax in the SQL Painter?
The former isn't in there (and I'm not sure why), but the latter is.
I'll ask engineering why Edit Source option wasn't made available.

Dave Fish

I think it was meant to save people (especially, those new to the
DataWindow object) from themselves, but there are a few occasions it
would have come in handy. I don't suspect it would be a big deal to
activate it again.

I thought that is what you meant, but wanted to make sure before going
into too much detail.

As Jim said, it was not added to protect people from themselves. Had I
known, I would have fought for its inclusion. I think we will be able
to convince them to turn this menu option on in the next release.

For those who may not understand what we are discussing here, it is a
way to edit the source code for the DataWindow definition through a
text editor.

You can export the DataWindow definition and then open it in the text
editor that comes with DataWindow Designer. Just right click on the
DataWindow object in the treeview and select export. You can then
click on the text editor icon on the toolbar (the one with a tooltip
that says Edit) and open the exported syntax file. This option is
useful if you want to make global changes to a DataWindow using find
and replace for example, and then you can import the DataWindow back
into the library.

I've just put a request in engineering's case tracking system to
reinstate this option.

Dave,
That is coincidental that one more person asks for the same information.
I was looking for to make this request as an enhancement.
It would be nice if it is made .NET like source code looking for datawindow
objects using XML.
It makes it easier to read and friendly to teach for a .NET and who doesn't
know anything about DW.
I added an ER to PB in ISUG. There is no section for Datawindow.NET yet.
