Hi, all
I am testing DataWindow.NET trial version.
when i designed dataWindowControl was not visible at first
and Describe("DataWindow.Objects") method called ,
DataWindow occured Error.
"Describe was called when no DataWindow Object was
attached".
but, DataWindowControl was visible, Describe method worked
well.

* Why DataWindowControl occurs Error?

I am seeing similar behavior. I'm checking with engineering to see if
this is a bug or a feature.

As a work around you could (and probably should) use a datastore if
you never intend for the DataWindow to be made visible in your
application.

Here is what the DataWindow .NET guru came back with:

I think this problem results from having the visible property off
during creation. This property is inherited from ...Forms and when it
is true then the runtime will not create a HANDLE for the control ...
no HANDLE no DW ...

They should be able to allow the DW to complete creation and then make
it invisible if that is what they want to have. They should be able to
set it in the DataWindowCreated event.

Hope this helps.

Dave Fish

Thanks for your answer!
What you said is helpful for me.
when I change DW::Visible Property at Form_Load Event or
DataWindowCreated event,
it works well.
but, i can't understand what you said.
"This property is inherited from ...Forms and when it
is false then the runtime will not create a HANDLE for the
control ...
no HANDLE no DW ...".
other .NET Controls which are not visible at it's creation
Time have their Handle!.
for testing what you said, i code
"Debug.WriteLine(this.datawindowControl1.Handle.ToString())
at Form_Load event.
(datawindowControl1.Visible = false at Creation time)
it's handle is not empty.
more strange thing is that if i code Debug.WriteLine(..) or
MessageBox.Show(..) at Load Event,
Describe Method works well. it doesn't occur error.
but, when i remove that code, Describe Method occur error.
i can't see Why?

thanks for Regards!
