Does anyone know if the rumor I heard that SMS push is not supported through
an Exchange server is true? What I was told is that I needed to run another
SMTP server in order to get SMS push running?

For SMS Push and Alerts, you need to point the Pylon Anywhere server at an
SMTP server that can be used to deliver the SMS messages.

There are details in the Push/Alert whitepaper which you can find at
http://crm.sybase.com/sybase/www/iAS/pylon_push_alert.jsp

Any SMTP server can send an email to the email address of the phone and have
the service provider convert the email to SMS. What I was told was that the
client software can not handle an email converted from an Exchange server.
I read the documentation and it only specifies that you need to have SMTP
set up to allow the server to send email through it. What I was told is you
have to have a SMTP server (anything other then Exchange) set up to allow
the server to send email through it. So what I am asking is:

Will the software work with an email going through an exchange server and
being converted to SMS by the provider?

Thanks

We depend on the SMTP server and carrier maintaining the exact From address
and subject/body that we send to the SMTP server for delivery. If either
the SMTP server or carrier modify those properties of that outgoing message
before it gets to the device, the Pylon Anywhere client will not be able to
distinguish SMS Push messages from normal SMS messages.
