Hi..!

I'm using PowerBuilder v 7.0 and Sybase SQL Anywhere v 5.04...

I would like to place a datawindow in a data entry form. That data window
will come from a table where there are several columns varchar(1) that will
have values 'Y' or 'N'. I would like to use check boxes for the user
selection (selected meaning 'Y', unselected meaning 'N').

I would like to have 'Y' valued columns maped into checked check boxes and
'N' valued columns maped into unchecked check boxes when loading values into
the data window.

Also, I would like to have checked check boxes maped into 'Y' values and
unchecked check boxes into 'N' values in the table when saving values from
the data window.

What about handling '?' values for 'unknown' maped in/from third state check
boxes?

Any suggestion on how to do it?

Thank you..!

Alex Castillo.

All of that is very simple. For the third-state, I typically choose a different value.
For example, "Y" means YES, "N" means NO, and "X" means "not answered". Don't use NULL values here...

Don't use "third state", this way your data can only be 'Y' (checked) or 'N'
(unchecked). Unless your DB is not consistent and uses more then just yes or
no.
