This may be specific to MS SQL Server but...

I specified "Trusted Connection" on the "Database Profile Setup" popup but
that seems to have no affect on the connection string.

I tried adding "Integrated Security=SSPI" to the "Extended" box but that has
no affect either. In the preview screen, I would expect to see these things
to change the connection string but it does not.

Testing the connection yields an authentication error. The connection works
if I use a non-trusted connection but that's not really an option for me.

There is a "Utilities" item in the treeview under the ADO.NET connection
type but it doesn't do anything. I didn't think there were any utilities
for an ADO.NET connection so I was curious what it should do. It should be
removed.

btw, if anyone is curious, I am NOT a chronic complainer....just trying to
get this thing to work.

The integrated security issue you mention is a bug in DataWindow
Designer. You can finagle it by putting ";Integrated Security=SSPI"
in the Database box, I believe. Take a look at the preview tab to get
it right. I think this bug has already been fixed, but the fix isn't
out in an EBF yet.

As for the "utilities" item, can you open a CaseXpress issue for that
- thanks.

Jim O'Neil,

you are correct! Not the most intuitive thing but it's great to have a
solution.

Now, any ideas about what's up with GetChanges in one of my earlier posts?

Well, I've been looking at a GetChanges issue, but I don't think it's
the one you mentioned. Can you refresh my memory. Sorry, but it's
often hard to remember specific posts from the number of newsgroups I
respond to.

The notes below were from the original post. I can't really add anything
additional to it except to summarize by saying that dw_1.GetChanges() should
return the same values before and after a dw_1.Update(true, false)

----------------------

Background: I'm trying to write an N-tier app and need to synchronize
datawindow controls and datastores.

DataWindowChanges changes0 = dsWork.GetChanges(); // length of blob = 433
dsWork.UpdateData(true, false); // update but don't reset status flags
DataWindowChanges changes1 = dsWork.GetChanges(); // length of blob 231 ???

SQLPreview is trapped and the code below is in it but shouldn't affect the
status flags. No data is changed in the trapped event.
e.Action = SqlPreviewAction.Skip; // Intellisense Help says TODO: (hmm,
not very reassuring)

Why would the blob be smaller after the update? The statuses should be
untouched and the blob should remain the same I would think. I have not
compared the results with a DataWindow, only a DataStore.
