I have a datawindow that is using the checkbox edit style. In the datawindow
designer in the preview data everything looks good. However, in my app none
of the check boxes are being checked. All I am doing at the early
development stage is a simple datawindow retrieve. All of the other columns
are coming in correctly.
I am using version 1 build 4500 of datawindow.net
version 7.1.3088 of the VS IDE
version 1.1.4322 SP1 of the .net framework

Any ideas?

Thanks

I tried using checkboxes in a DataWindow and they worked fine. By fine
I mean that I could check and uncheck the checkboxes in a DataWindow
on a Windows Form. Do you have the tab order set on the checkbox
column? Can you provide more information about the problem?

Dave Fish

Check to make sure that you've provided a value for the column that
matches one of those in the checkbox edit style. If the column is
null, it won't be checked.

Inside the datawindow designer the checkbox's are functioning fine. The
problem I am having is when I do a datawindow retrieve from the application
the checkbox's are not being set correctly. (all of them non checked)...
Same database, same tables as the preview in the datawindow designer.

The preview will always work when you click on them. because clicking uses
the correct values. Try adding the same column as an edit next to your
checkbox and run the app. Then you'll see what the retrieve is bringing
back. If that value isn't the same as the design time On/Checked value then
you won't get anything. Also check that you didn't use a number where you
meant a char or something.

The designer is getting the data from the database query. This should be the
same as for the retrieve() inside the application.
Attached is a couple of screen shots showing the behavior.

As you can see from the code below I am just doing a simple retrieve
private void dw_validity_DataWindowCreated(object sender,
Sybase.DataWindow.DataWindowCreatedEventArgs e)

{

dw_validity.SetTransaction(perform);

dw_validity.Retrieve();

}

Unless its data I'm out of ideas. You're not looking at the same two sets
of data in the preview and the app ( probably need to scroll) but did you
try putting two columns side by side so you can see what the value is. And
you are definately pointing at the same database / user / etc etc in design
time and runtime?

sorry I'm not much more help

Playing around with this some more I think I might have figured out what is
happening here. The checkbox are being mapped to fields that are "tinyint"
in the database. It appears that "tinyint's" are having problems in the
datawindow.When I change this to just an edit style instead of a check box
the datawindow displays garbage characters instead of a zero or a one. When
I change the database field to a small int than things appear to function.

Hmm, can you report that as a bug via CaseXpress. It sounds like you
might have workaround, but tinyint should work as well.

When I go into case express I do not see anything close to datawindow.net in
product/product family. Which category should I use?
